Our school learnt from the Internet that a Japanese
artist was looking
for schools worldwide interested in participating at
her photo project
'Familiar Hour'. After we had thoroughly read the
appropriate information, we decided to participate
with a larger number of pupils and parents. Four
colleagues finally supported the project. We
contacted the artist Mrs. Eccuhya and clarified some
initial questions.

We were very pleased that Mrs. Eccuhya wanted to
accompany the project
In Berlin personally. This was an interesting meeting
- not only for the
teachers but also for the children and their parents.
On April 17 the
meeting took place at the Ikarus primary school here
in Berlin. In all,
38 children and 38 parents took part. After the
greeting by the
headmaster Mr. Schmidkunz and a short daily overview
the production of the photo framework was explained.

Parents and pupils tinkered the carcass of the
framework in the
general-purpose area of the school. There was the
first station. At
the following second station the special glue was
poured into the empty
frameworks. Each pair of pupils/parents manufactured
two frameworks.
The glue was touched before with different colours:
red/yellow/blue or
neutrally. Children and parents selected their
colours. At the last station the frameworks could be
topped with different materials which were pressed or
strewn into the mass, e.g. small memories, plastic
flowers, toys, shells, glitter etc.

A teacher took the photos of the kids and their Mum or
Dad in the schoolyard and later in the general-purpose
area. The joint work of children, parents, teachers
and the artist was described by all participants as
very positive. During the 'production-process' a busy
and mutual atmosphere prevailed. Everybody assisted
each other or answered questions by the local press.

The results were very colourful and creative. Older
pupils worked as
aides and put the photos into the frameworks. All were
proud that the work
Was also going to be taken to Japan and being
presented in a Tokyo gallery.
In addition, the children could admire their results
in the school: all
frameworks with photos were photographed and presented
at an exhibition
in the ground floor of the school, together with the
newspaper article and
photos, which were taken during the Workshop.

Unsere Schule erfuhr aus dem Internet, dass eine
japanische K?nstlerin f?r ihr Fotoprojekt Ёamiliar
Hour? interessierte teilnehmende Schulen suchte.
Nachdem wir die dazugeh?enden Informationen gr?ndlich
gelesen hatten, entschlossen wir uns, mit einer
gr?eren Anzahl von Sch?lern und Eltern daran
teilzunehmen. Vier Kolleginnen wollten dass Projekt
unterst?tzen.
Wir nahmen Kontakt mit Frau Eccuhya auf und kl舐ten
einige Unklarheiten.
Sehr erfreut waren wir, dass Frau Eccuhya pers?lich
nach Berlin und das Projekt begleiten wollte. Dies war
nicht nur f?r die Lehrerinnen sondern auch f?r die
Kinder und deren Eltern eine interessante Begegnung.
Am 17.April 02 fand die Veranstaltung in der
Ikarus-Schule statt. Es beteiligten sich 38 Kinder und
38 Eltern. Nach der Begr?゜ung durch den Schulleiter
Herrn Schmidkunz und einen kurzen Tages?berblick wurde
die Herstellung des Fotorahmens erkl舐t. Eltern und
Sch?ler bastelten den Rohbau des Rahmens gemeinsam im
Mehrzweckraum der Schule. Dort war die erste Station.
An der folgenden zweiten Station wurde der
Ponalklebstoff in die leeren Rahmen gegossen. Jedes
Sch?ler-Elternpaar stellte zwei Rahmen her. Der
Klebstoff wurde vorher mit unterschiedlichen Farben
anger?hrt : rot/gelb/blau oder neutral. Kinder und
Eltern w臧lten ihre Farben aus. An der letzten Station
konnten die Rahmen verziert werden indem verschiedene
Materialien in die Masse gedr?ckt oder gestreut
wurden, z.B. kleine Erinnerungen, Plastikblumen,
Spielzeuge, Muscheln, Glimmer...
Eine Lehrerin fotografierte auf dem Schulhof und
sp舩er im Mehrzweckraum Kinder und Eltern.
Die gemeinschaftliche Arbeit von Kindern, Eltern,
Lehrerinnen und der K?nstlerin selbst wurde von allen
Teilnehmern als sehr positiv beschrieben. W臧rend der
Herstellung herrschte gesch臟tiges Treiben und deine
freundliche Atmosph舐e. Man half sich gegenseitig und
gab auch dem anwesenden Reporter einer Berliner
Tageszeitung bereitwillig Auskunft.
Die Arbeit im Workshop hat sich gelohnt, denn die
Ergebnisse waren sehr farbenfroh und kreativ. トltere
Sch?ler haben sich als Helfer bet舩igt und dann die
Fotos in die Rahmen geklebt. Im ?brigen waren alle
stolz, dass die Arbeiten mit nach Japan genommen
wurden und in Tokio in einer Galerie ausgestellt
werden sollten. Damit aber auch die Kinder ihre
Ergebnisse in der Schule bewundern konnten, wurden
alle Rahmen mit Fotos fotografiert und in einer
Ausstellung im Erdgeschoss der Schule pr舖entiert,
zusammen mit dem Zeitungsartikel und Fotos, die
w臧rend des Workshops aufgenommen wurden.
